Code of Conduct & Disciplinary Policy
Purpose
In alignment with Little League Baseball, Incorporated standards of sportsmanship and player safety,
Riverton Little League is committed to providing a safe, respectful, and positive environment for all
players, coaches, umpires, volunteers, and families.
Our league strives to provide a safe, family-friendly environment for all players and spectators.
Unsportsmanlike conduct, profanity, harassment, intimidation, threats, or violence will not be tolerated
at any league activity.
This policy applies to:
- Parents
- Guardians
- Spectators
- Coaches
- Volunteers
- Players
- Board members
This policy applies at all games, practices, tournaments, and league-sponsored events.
Prohibited Conduct
The following behaviors may result in disciplinary action:
- Use of profane, obscene, or abusive language
- Verbal harassment toward players, coaches, umpires, parents, or volunteers
- Threatening behavior
- Entering the field or dugout to confront coaches, players, or officials
- Physical intimidation
- Fighting or physical altercations
- Harassment through text messages, phone calls, or social media
- Any conduct that creates an unsafe environment for children
Immediate Removal From Event
Per Little League conduct standards, any individual engaging in disruptive or inappropriate behavior may be:
- Removed from the current game or practice immediately
- Required to leave league property
- Prohibited from returning until the board reviews the incident
Failure to leave may result in law enforcement being contacted for trespassing.
Incident Reporting
All coaches, umpires, and board members must report behavioral incidents to the league board immediately
following the event.
Progressive Discipline
First Offense
Formal warning from the board.
Second Offense
A 1–2 week suspension from games, practices, tournaments, and all other league activities.
The severity of the incident determines the length of suspension.
Third Offense
Season-long suspension or permanent ban from league activities.
Immediate Ban Provision
The board may skip progressive discipline and issue an immediate suspension or ban for:
- Physical violence
- Threats of violence
- Harassment of children
- Repeated intimidation
- Severe verbal abuse
- Any conduct that creates safety concerns
This aligns with Little League’s child safety expectations.
Multi-League Enforcement
If an individual receives a full ban:
- They are prohibited from attending all Riverton Little League practices and games
- They are prohibited from entering league facilities
- The league president may notify surrounding league presidents within the district or interleague organization
- The ban may extend to partner league facilities hosting Riverton Little League teams
Appeals
Individuals may submit a written appeal to the board. Board decisions are final.
